Performing at Sidmouth FolkWeek
Lots of people want to play Sidmouth FolkWeek, and as much as we appreciate interest in the Festival, unfortunately we do not have enough space in our programme to accommodate them all - or in fact time to listen to the many hundreds of CDs and Myspace links we receive, or watch all the Youtubes of dance sides.
We rarely book artists based on CDs or other studio recordings, as recordings only tell part of the story when it comes to how a band performs live. As a result bookings are almost exclusively made following our own extensive attendance at gigs and festivals, and recommendations from existing contacts. Contacts include other festival organisers, folk club organisers and other folk industry professionals.
It is very unlikely that unsolicited artists will be offered a booking, and we therefore discourage people from sending in material, especially CDs, DVDs and press packs.
